MKE JS Editor Uses Circular Logic to Explain Christian Schneider Reporting News: "News Department has Nothing to do With Op-Eds"

[img_assist|nid=305207|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=300|height=154]I recently emailed the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Editor, George Stanley, and asked him why Christian Schneider was able to use his column to report news: a lengthy interview with fabulist Kyle Wood

Specifically, I asked Stanley: "Why is the interview still posted and why is Christian Schneider allowed to post bogus "interviews" without editorial oversight?"

Stanley reached la big bag of circular logic and responded that no editorial oversight came into play because "The news department has nothing to do with op-ed columnists."

Umm... that's the point, George:  Why was Christian Schneider able to print a story that to the casual reader looked like any other news story that has been vetted by the news department?

Anyway, Schneider's "interview" with Wood has been scrubbed from the Journal-Sentinel's website, which I guess is a tacit admission that they screwed up... which is as close to an apology as you're going to get from the Journal-Sentinel.
