The Clinton Question

HillaryHillaryOn to the question of the evening - what will Hillary say?  Clearly things have been worked out to have Clinton release her delegates to Obama in one way or another - but I think the question is, will she sound convincing?  Will this finally drive the nail into the coffin of the PUMA movement?

At the moment there's a Hillary testimonial running, and the Hillary signs are being passed out.  The tension is rising -- It's really surprising how much raw energy floats around the hall from time to time.  This is one of those times.  A few highlights:

Chelsea has introduced her, and she has taken the stage amidst pandemonium in the seats.

Hillary has started speaking, and they're handing out the Obama Unity signs. None of them are getting up here into the Wisconsin seats - people are unhappy.Ah - they just showed up.

The Time is now to unite as a single party with a single purpose.

None of us can afford to sit on the sidelines - this is a fight for the future and a fight we must win together.

No way, no how, no McCain.

Barack Obama is our candidate and he must be our president.

To my Sisterhood of the Traveling PantSuits -

I ran to stand up for those who have been invisible to the government for eight long years - and those are the reasons I support Barack Obama.

I want you to ask yourselves - were you in this campaign just for me?  Or were you in it for  ... all the people in this country who feel invisible.

I cannot wait for Barack Obama to sign into law a health care plan that covers every American.

John McCain is my colleague and my friend, but we don't need four more years of the last eight years.

She is of course, as one would have expected, speaking to the issues of health care, civil rights, and education.

Altogether a convincing, graceful  and powerful speech  - pretty much everything I could have hoped for - a very clear tale of support for unity, and for a Democratic victory in the fall.
