Live Earth PosterLive Earth PosterWe are inviting you all to help us make Live Earth Wisconsin THE peace and environmental event of the summer. The gathering is on the weekend of July 6-8 at the Anathoth Community Farm in Luck, WI. The main event is on Saturday--7/7/07. There are several reasons we are doing this that we hope you can all get behind:
  • This summer is the 20th Anniversary of the Anathoth Community Farm. More than ever we want to give folks a good excuse to see what we are doing up here. Twenty years of nonviolence, community, and sustainable living. We've done everything from filling up the jails to running for Congress. And more!
  • 7/707 is Live Earth. The organizers (including Al Gore) are hoping to put Global Warming in front of 2,000,000,000 people in one day.
  • Proceeds from the day will go to fund a new education center we are building at the farm. Our plans are to make it the greenest building we can.
  • The progressive community needs an event to bring us all together in the spirit of Emma Goldman--if I can't dance I don't want to be part of your revolution.

We are going to need a lot of volunteers to pull this one off. If you can help in any way, either now to help us get ready (publicity, grounds preparation, gathering stuff we are going to need), or the on the day of the big event (cooking, vending, security, traffic control, schlepping, child whatever) let us know. We still may need an off duty law officer for the day and another doctor ( these two are for the permit).

Outreach is the biggest single item we need to work on. These are the ways in which many of you can help:

  • Simply forward this email to everyone you know.
  • If you are a peace and justice or environmental organization or blogger and have a website please link to our website. Use our poster from myspace for the graphic for your link. Please keep the most updated version of the poster on on your website. Or do whatever else you do on your site to get the word out.
  • If you are on myspace add yourself and all your friends as our friends so we can multiply the network as fast as we can.
We can hardly believe the lineup coming to our homemade stage in a field--Buckwheat Zydeco(Louisiana Creole), Devon Evans (Bob Marley and the Wailers), Natty Nation(reggae), Savage Aural Hotbed(industrial percussion and sparks), Nama Rupa(psychedelic swamp reggae), Floydian Slip(jam/rock), Bedlam(Irish), and the farm band Command Zulu(political techno folk). And too many surprises to mention.

Friday night will be arrival, setting up camp, and hanging around the most scenic bonfire pit in Polk County. Saturday is the show complete with food vendors, beer garden, renewable energy displays, sand volley ball, children's activities, hiking, biking(byob)

, and tours of the eco village. Sunday is when we gather to network and plan where we all go from here. Be ready to lead a workshop if you have one.

Cost is: Early Bird--$25 adult, 13-17 $15, and 12 and under free
Day of show--$30adult, 13-17 $15, and 12 and under free
Day of show evening special after 8 pm--$15. You can buy tickets online here

So how does this all sound? Please be in touch. Brainstorm with us. We'll see what we all come up with. Hope to see you on 7/7/07.
