Who We Are - Where We Stand
The Burlington Area Progressives (The BAP) is a non-profit, non-partisan and unaffiliated grass-roots organization. We seek in the tradition of the founders to promote open and accountable government, representative of The People, promoting the common good, and protective of our inalienable rights.
Progressives are concerned with American values of Freedom, Social Justice, Education, Health Care, Ecology, Responsible Commerce, Voting Rights, a Government of Laws not Men and America’s Role in the World -- among many other issues. We believe in personal freedom wedded to community responsibility.
Working together we can turn back the tide of ignorance and corruption tearing at our democracy and return America to the progressive values on which the country was founded, and which made the United States a beacon of freedom and hope throughout the world. Those governed in the interest of others are not free.
