Iraq? War? Oh, nobody's interested in that!

The Huffington Post reports today what anyone who watches the mainstream news media already knew - the Iraq War is largely below the radar of most reporters.

This is amazing to me.  After having grown up during the Vietnam era, when the war was in the news as the major item every single night, I don't understand how it is possible that the news media think we're more interested in Paris Hilton's latest exploits than in a war that is killing many of our young people, and an astounding number of Iraqi's.

This is a reminder that it is important for the rest of us to keep bringing the war up, to keep ankle-biting, and to do all we can to make the war end, and to keep this from happening again. Because the news media are just not doing the job.

Now that we've won, let's go home

Frank Rich had a great Op-Ed about this recently. His main point:

In America, the war has been a settled issue since early 2007. No matter what has happened in Iraq since then, no matter what anyone on any side of the Iraq debate has had to say about it, polls have consistently found that a majority of Americans judge the war a mistake and want out. For that majority, the war is over except for finalizing the withdrawal details. They’ve moved on without waiting for the results of Election Day 2008 or sampling the latest hectoring ad from moveon.org.
