Madison won't spend money to keep Badger State Games

The Badger State Games pump an estimated $900,000 - $2 million into the local economy each year. 

Greater Madison Convention and Visitor's Bureau President Deb Archer asked (who?) for $150,000 over the three years it would take to keep the games, but was denied.

Madison didn't want to spend $50k a year to generate upwards of $2 million each year for local businesses and increased tax revenues. Head ... hurts ...

But don't worry GMCVB has a plan! They "hope" to set up a sports authority within the next 18 months that will be funded by strong-arming a percentage increase from local hotel room taxes.

Or maybe the GMCVB will just go back to taking a nap.
