Xoff's Blog

Commentary on state politics by Bill Christofferson, who often uses Xofferson or Xoff to shorten his 14-letter last name.

Christofferson, a recovered journalist and ex-political reporter, has been a Democratic strategist and consultant for 20 years and is now retired. He lives in Milwaukee.
He is the author of a political biography, "The Man From Clear Lake: Earth Day Founder Sen. Gaylord Nelson," published by the University of Wisconsin Press.

Profs. Tweedledee & Tweedledum vs. Sensenbrenner

Two Wisconsin professors, one Democrat and one Republican, say they will run a joint campaign against Rep. F. Jim Sensenbrenner, the controversial conservative from Milwaukee's suburbs.

At first blush it may sound intriguing. But upon closer inspection, it's a gimmick cooked up by two academics that flies in the face of what campaigns and elections are all about -- making choices.

Voters in the district, even though it is overwhelmingly Republican and probably non-competitive, deserve better.

My Daily Kos diary explains.
