Hypocrisy

How McCain lacks solid principals, embraces hypocrisy

Desperately, the GOP candidate continues to flail around, inventing flat-out lies about spreading wealth and such. It's particularly shameful when McCain used to support the very policies that Obama is putting forward right now. Need proof? Check out Jed Lewison's video below. Who would trust this guy? He has no principals.

Double standard

This content is making the email rounds today. It deftly outlines the double standards that are causing cognitive dissonance in the 2008 presidential election. No idea who the author is, but the points are well made!

If you're a minority and you're selected for a job over more qualified candidates, you're a 'token hire.'
If you're a conservative and you're selected for a job over more qualified candidates, you're a 'game changer.'

Black teen pregnancies? A 'crisis' in black America .
White teen pregnancies? A 'blessed event.'

If you grow up in Hawaii , you're 'exotic.'
Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, you're the quintessential 'American story.'

On A New School Year, Or, The Sarah Palin Drinking Game

Well, it is easy to tell it’s September.

BBQ smoke hangs thickly in the air, the rain is getting cooler than it usually is in the summertime, and the Mariners are securely in last place.

And it is also time to return to school. For the new voter about to enter (or return to) College, all the crazy living can make you forget about important things, like...oh, I don’t know...maybe an election or two.

To make sure this does not happen I’m going to put College and Politics together to create this year’s first...wait for it...synchronized Sarah Palin drinking game.

So start pairing up your shotglasses, find the Scotch tape, and when you get back I’ll tell you how it works.

OK...so here’s what’s going to happen:

You’re going to make “pairs” of glasses that will have Sarah Palin’s “official story” on one glass, and Sarah Palin’s matching flip-flop on the other...which you can find right here...so print this story, cut out the strips, apply a bit of tape, and you’re on your way.

Put them in a shoebox, and at the beginning of the game players pick one at random. (Or if you prefer, pick teammates...)

When you hear one of the pair on the TV, both glasses have to drink...in a synchronized manner.

Hypocrisy, moralizing, lax consciences and Charlie Sykes

This from Jonah Goldberg, a self-righteous bag of gas from the National Review's Dept. of Calling the Kettle Black, cited gleefully by Charlie Sykes:

But the Left has another solution. Under its system, you can still be a moralizer. You can still tell people what to do and how to live. And, best of all, you can still fall short of your ideals personally while guiltlessly trying to use government to impose your moral vision on others. All you have to do is become a liberal moralizer.

Once you become a liberal, you can wax eloquent on the glories of the public schools while sending your kids to private school. You can wax prolix about the greedy rich while making a fortune on the side. You can even use the government to impose your values willy-nilly, from racial quotas and confiscatory tax rates to draconian environmental policies and sex-ed for grade-schoolers — all of which will paid for in part by people who disagree with you...

The point is simply this: Hypocrisy is bad, sure. But it’s a human failing that should fall upon the individual in question. What the left wants to do is use hypocrisy as a cudgel to declare that conservative ideals are categorically illegitimate because some conservatives fail to live up to them.
