Gas tax holiday, who wins? Oil companies - NOT consumers!

Presidential hopefuls John McBush and Hillary Clinton's support of a gas tax holiday for consumers will benefit oil company profits. Surprised?

Gas stations will continue to charge the same amount, roughly $3.60 per gallon nationally, but instead of paying federal taxes, they get to pocket the difference at the expense of U.S. infrastructure and safety.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican John McCain is making promises that would cost billions of taxpayer dollars, yet he is vague about how he would pay for them.

McCain is handing around a campaign grab bag of goodies. There are little treats like a summer gas-tax holiday and new mortgages for struggling homeowners, and there are big plums like tax breaks for corporations and families with children.

Unlike the Democrats, McCain has made a career of trying to cut spending. He rails against spending in nearly every speech.

Quote, unquote

"I value my marriage too much. I have never thought about it. I would never do such a thing, so I wouldn't know what the legalities are."

-- Sen. John McCain, whose campaign is in financial trouble, and whose wife is worth an estimated $24-million.

"I value my marriage too much" sounds like he thinks she'd divorce him if he brought it up.
