Eau Claire "Global Climate Rally"
Climate Action Now (CAN) folks,
Please attend our biggest event of the year, coming up the Sunday after Thanksgiving:
IN EAU CLAIRE, RALLY WITH THE WORLD ON EVE OF PARIS CLIMATE TALKS
This December hundreds of world governments will meet in Paris to try to strike a global climate agreement, and here in Eau Claire we will join with people around the globe to rally for climate action! Come to learn about the Paris Climate Talks, take a group photo with the solar flower, and connect with local environmental organizations.
DATE: Sunday, November 29th
WHERE: Eau Claire, WI
LOCATION: Chippewa Valley Technical College - Energy Education Center (4000 Campus Rd., Eau Claire, WI 54703) *Note this location is on Eau Claire’s west side!
Join an optional guided bike ride to the event, starting at 1:00pm from Phoenix Park’s Farmers’ Market pavilion. Carpooling from the Farmers’ Market pavilion will also be an option for folks at 1:15pm.
Under the umbrella of 350.org, groups from around the world will be taking action on this day. The mission of 350.org is to build a global climate movement. They are calling for this solution: “Keep 80% of fossil fuels in the ground and invest in a just transition to 100% renewable energy.” Local groups in the Chippewa Valley are coming together to sponsor this event and to encourage our leaders to work for this climate solution, including the Sierra Club, Transition Chippewa Valley, Citizens’ Climate Lobby, Eau Claire Climate Action Now (CAN), and Progressive Students & Alumni (PSA).
Attendees will gather with signs and banners in front of CVTC’s solar power installations for a group photo. The photo will be collected with photos from events across the globe to be shared with our leaders in Paris.

Thank Mayor BarrettOrganizing for Action will thank Mayor Tom Barrett, who has signed the Compact of Mayors Agreement, committing the city over a three year period to inventory CO2 emissions, create a plan with a reduction target and report progress. The event will hignlight the city's CO2 reductions programs; providing a vision of sustainablity to the community, supplying resources to home owners to reduce their energy bills and offering solutions to businesses to help them lower their energy costs. All are welcome.
