Terrorism

This week's WTF story

Transformer toy

Beware fans of Transformers - the movie, the toys, the t-shirts.

Especially those of you who may wear Transformer t-shirts and be in the computer industry on a business trip! You risk being identified as a terrorist and denied flight travel.

'"Then he explains that since Megatron is holding a gun, I'm not allowed to fly,' he said.

Meanwhile ... the airline industry is projected to lose more than $6 billion this year. Who knew there were that many traveling Transformer fans?! <snark>

Taxi to the Dark Side

Thanks to the BBC and Google Video for this - A chance to see the Academy Award Winning film from the comfort of your own computer.

This is hardly the same as seeing it in a theatre, but since I don't think it's likely to be showing near Downsville any time soon -

This is the best argument I've seen for how the War on Terror is destroying democracy here and everywhere else.

All GOP needs is another 9/11

“At the end of the day, I believe fully the president is doing the right thing, and I think all we need is some attacks on American soil like we had on [Sept. 11, 2001 ], and the naysayers will come around very quickly to appreciate not only the commitment for President Bush, but the sacrifice that has been made by men and women to protect this country,” Milligan said.

Milligan is Dennis Milligan, new Arkansas Republican Party chair, who says he's "150 per cent" behind President Bush on Iraq.

This is what journalists call burying the lede. The paragraph above was the 43rd paragraph in a 45-paragraph story about Milligan.
