Tim Russell

Considering that Scott Walker seems to be furiously backtracking and claiming that he barely knows Brian Pierick and Tim Russell, they seem to be fairly heaviliy involved in his campaign web site.  A quick look through the history of the domain registrations for scottwalker.org indicates that until 2 days ago, Tim Russell was the registrant of the web site, and that before Russell was the registrant, Biran Pierick owned the domain name, with Tim Russell as the administrative contact.

A number of other issues were raised today in a conference call with Mike Tate of the WIsconsin Democratic Party about whether Russell and Pierick owning his domain name was appropriate, and whether or not Walker's campaign paid for the domain registration and the web development.

This is all not exactly a smoking gun, but it's an interesting history.

Note to Milwaukee County GOP:  You might want to audit your books.

Tim Russell (pictured), Scott Walker's longtime crony who was arrested Thursday on charges of embezzling money donated to help war veterans, also is, or at least was, the treasurer of the Republican Party of Milwaukee County.

A Google search produced the following links, but some are already inoperative, which suggests the GOP must be quickly purging its website of Russell's name.

However, one of the items, an invitation to a Christmas party, is from Dec. 8, 2011, so if Russell's not the treasurer it is a very recent development.

A release from 2010 announcing a "patriotic gala," features Russell on the letterhead.  Makes you wonder who benefitted from that one.  

UPDATE: Russell also was treasurer of the Soldiers Home Foundation.  The list keeps growing.

State Rep. Jeff Stone, the Scott Walker clone running to replace him as Milwaukee County executive, has been rying to keep his distance from Walker ever since the governor's poll numbers plunged into the toilet.

But that gets harder and harder.
