What a great 3 days

YearlyKOS is just about over.

I realize that I haven't actually said much of substance while I was here.  IWay too much going on to have a lot of time to blog. It was 3 of the most invigorating days of my life. I've met so many intelligent, well-informed people, I don't know what to say.  I didn't agree with all of them about everything, but what a great bunch of conversations. Some of the panels and workshops were wonderful, and I'm taking away a lot from the convention, including a lot of contacts.  It was great to be able to meet and talk to a lot of the A-list bloggers.  It was also pretty exciting that some of them had actually read this site, and some of them even knew who I was.

Anyway, I'm a little tired at the moment.  I intend to clear my head by going to see the Simpson's movie, and have dinner.

The convention had some rough spots.  I've never been to a conference that didn't include coffee (which was  a sore point - lots of people on the prowl for a caffeine fix, most of which was only available at the couple of Starbucks in McCormick Place.  And none of us knew what the deal was going to be RE: food ahead of time.  There were some scheduling problems, and a lot of people didn't expect the convention to be so spread out (I talked to one guy with a pedometer today who told me he'd logged 4 miles of walking in the convention center on the first day.  I've probably done about the same.

But one the whole, what a great time.  The presidential forum here is really what should have been broadcast rather than the Youtube debate.  The questions were mostly pretty tough, and I have to say that the candidates all did quite well at fielding the questions. I only got to go to one of the breakouts with the candidates - but it was great, and it was really wonderful to have a chance to have a bunch of smart people ask tough questions of the candidates.  I see that we're on the NBC news right now.

Anyway, I'm going to relax a little for a while, and I'm blowing off Markos' closing keynote.  I need a beer and dinnter.

There will be a bunch more pictures and some video in the next couple of days, and perhaps some more thoughtful commentary. Right now my head is full of ideas and a sense of hope that I haven't had for quite a while.

Later.
