Jorgensen: Final Budget Motion Adds Fuel to the Republicans’ Dumpster Fire Budget
MADISON – Assembly Democratic Caucus Chair and Representative Andy Jorgensen (D-Milton) today shared this statement in reaction to the Republicans’ final budget motion in the Joint Finance Committee:
“The Republicans just added fuel to their dumpster fire of a budget, releasing a wave of proposals that will pay off payday lenders with a sweetheart deal, threaten your right to a weekend, and devastate public records laws meant to ensure open, transparent government.
“For months, I’ve listened to my friends and neighbors plead for a plan that saves our schools and preserves our high standards for teachers, protects our natural resources, and ensures that critical public works projects like I-39/90 move forward. I know that Republicans have bombarded with calls and emails from their own constituents, too, but apparently, those cries have fallen on deaf ears.
“I am determined to make my colleagues across the aisle listen, as we debate the budget next week. Whether or not we can change their minds is unknown, but one thing is certain: before they vote, they will understand that a ‘yes’ vote will devastate the Wisconsin we know and love.”
